I Found Real Self Help that Saved Me.

A story of Real Self Help from Patrick Dunaway.

When I graduated from College, I had a wife and two kids and a good job. I thought everything would all sort of fall in place and I would really realize my full potential as an individual.

Yet I found myself in a place that left me only feeling partially fulfilled in spite of the fact that I had a great family, a good job and an education—something many people in the world do not have.

But there was a void, an empty feeling. And to fill it, like many of my generation, I turned to drugs and alcohol. (Alcohol was the drug of choice of my parents and our generation.)

And I soon found what I had achieved was in jeopardy of being lost, namely my wife and kids and the job that I had worked so hard to attain...

I kept saying to myself, "There has got to be more than this to life."

Then a friend told me about the book, Dianetics, The Modern Science of Mental Health so I learned about the Reactive Mind and began to understand that people had different levels of rationality and ability.

The book showed me the source of my own irrational thoughts and behavior and I found that it could be erased to attain the State of Clear.

I realized that there was more, a lot more, and graduated to studying Scientology.

I did a procedure called, "Life Repair" and took their remarkable "Communication Course" that handled all the immediate issues I in life.

It helped get me off drugs permanently and rehabilitate a marriage I thought was lost, but it mostly got me to see that there was so much more to life and a real possibility of attaining Spiritual Freedom in just one lifetime.

I have never looked back.

It is not that life became so easy (but in some ways it did), but now I have the answers and the tools deal with it, stay in control of it and meet my goals.

Now I know there is much more to be achieved, not only as an individual but as a member of mankind, and that most people are only using a small part of their full potential.

This is real self help.
